The 2025 USG Teaching and Learning Conference is a great opportunity to get inspired and connect with fellow pedagogical adventurers. This year’s lineup promises to be especially fantastic, with many sessions set to be led by Georgia State University faculty and staff. Here’s a sneak peek at some of what your colleagues will be sharing:
- Mohamed Abdeen will share how augmented reality can help teach complex, abstract STEM concepts that often require 3D spatial reasoning skills.
- Elizabeth Lopez will share a learning design framework focused on engaging learners through careful design of programs, learning spaces, technologies, and high-impact practices.
- Stephanie Garofalo will share her innovative approach to replacing traditional participation grades with student success activities.
- Sarah Hepler will share research-backed strategies for fostering community and connection across academic roles.
- Jennifer Hall will share how her students analyzed AI-generated images on hot-button issues to learn about logical fallacy, bias, and disinformation and work with participants to explore other pedagogical possibilities related to AI-generated images.
- With her colleague from Columbus State University, Angiah L. Davis will explore practices that foster nurturing and sustainable communities among faculty and students.
- Michael Lewis will share three imaginative institutional and pedagogical models for the future of Learning Support English in the USG.
- Stephanie Gutzler, Brennan Collins, and Justin Lonsbury will share how generative AI helped support student work during various stages of semester-long research project in a large-enrollment, FLC-linked course.
- Hongmei Zhang will introduce a model for exam reviews that promises to improve student performance and perceptions in STEM courses and beyond.
And that’s just scratching the surface. More than 30 sessions will feature your Georgia State University colleagues. Go Panthers! Register today to join us in Columbus, Georgia, on April 3–4, 2025!
