The Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Online Education (CETLOE) at Georgia State University is proud to announce the winners of the Spring 2025 CETLOE Awards. These awards honor faculty and graduate teaching assistants who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to student learning through innovative and effective teaching practices.
Instructional Innovation Award
Dr. Robin Hartinger-Saunders, School of Social Work, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies
Dr. Hartinger-Saunders has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to student learning through the integration of emerging technologies. Her use of custom generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs) in OpenAI to simulate client interactions has significantly enhanced student engagement and learning outcomes. Her innovative approach serves as a model for intentional innovation in education.
Instructional Effectiveness Award
Dr. Jacque-Corey Cormier, Department of Health Policy & Behavioral Sciences, School of Public Health
Dr. Cormier's commitment to effective teaching practices and the use of multiple media to ensure student success has earned her the Instructional Effectiveness Award. Her philosophy of guiding every instructional choice by the question, "How will this support learning?" has led to remarkable student engagement and success. Her dedication to thoughtful and effective teaching is truly inspiring.
Part-Time Instructor Pedagogy Award
Dr. Daniel McCarthy-Howard, Institute for Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies, College of Arts & Sciences
Dr. McCarthy-Howard has been honored for their exceptional dedication to teaching and the development of student learning. Their ability to create a learning environment that engages students with complex material has been highly praised by both students and department leaders. Their innovative teaching practices and meaningful engagement with students have made a significant impact on student learning experiences.
Graduate Teaching Assistant Pedagogy Award
Meghan Vogt, Neuroscience Institute, College of Arts & Sciences
Ms. Vogt has demonstrated exceptional work in the classroom and a strong dedication to developing her craft as an educator. Her commitment to undergraduate teaching, despite taking on significant teaching responsibilities, has made a lasting impact on her students and department.
