Jared Jones

Dr. Jared Jones is a Learning Experience (LX) designer for CETLOE. He works directly with instructors, multimedia designers and learning technologists to design, develop and implement courses and special projects for Georgia State University. He’s here to help instructors find a new strategy or technical polish that will make a meaningful difference in their teaching.

Jared has 3+ years of experience as an instructional designer and 5+ years as a university instructor teaching face-to-face, hybrid and online. Jared holds an Instructional Designer Certificate and an Accessibility Badge from the Online Learning Consortium, the leading professional organization for advancing quality online learning. He is a certified trainer for the Online SUNY Course Quality Rubric. Jared creates engaging, accessible courses and designs new forms of support for students and their instructors.

Jared earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English from Ohio State University and B.A. degrees in English and World Languages, Literatures and Linguistics from West Virginia University. Jared was a Clark Library fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Guggenheim fellow at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. He has presented his research at the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, the National Air and Space Museum and the International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts.

Jared has many personable and humanizing interests. He cooks vegan, studies languages and paints miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons. He is married to a professional folklorist, and they live in Atlanta with two cats (pictures available upon request). He also works as a freelance editor and photographer.
