- Biography
With over 12 years of experience in the University System of Georgia, Karah Hagins is part of the team of Assistant Managers on Learning Experience (LX) Design at CETLOE. She works with a group of incredibly talented designers, developers, and innovators to design, develop and implement programs, courses, and other learning journeys at GSU.
Karah has a B.A. in Classical Culture and Philosophy, respectively, and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Georgia. In addition, she earned an M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Development. Currently, Karah is in candidacy at the University of Georgia for her Ph.D. in Learning, Design, and Technology with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2023. Her Ph.D. research explores how course activities designed to foster empathetic relationships in asynchronous online learning environments impact learning experiences. She is interested in emotional learning, humanistic design, social-emotional learning, and affective design approaches to teaching and learning environments.
Karah has presented at several local, regional, national and international conferences in the field of education. In addition, she has published an article in Advances in Physiology Education and in Educational Media and Technology Yearbook.
When she’s not working or engaging in academic pursuits, Karah enjoys spending time with her young children 一 playing in the creek and woods behind her house, and reading all sorts of horror and science fiction. As a self-proclaimed oenophile, Karah likes cooking eclectically with the occasional baking attempt and dreaming of ways to host exceptional parties.
