Nelson Young is a Learning Technologist at CETLOE who focuses on Information Technology and Instructional Technology. Although Nelson started his career with the U.S. Department of Defense, he found his way into academia by working in technology management and distance learning at Old Dominion University. His background and current areas of focus include online teaching and learning, instructional systems, faculty development, instructional design, technology integration and resource management. His goal is to provide the leadership that creates avenues for experimentation and positive change.
As part of CETLOE, Nelson enjoys his role in converging current instructional design principles and learning technologies to form dynamic student learning opportunities. His goal is to provide solid foundational knowledge that draws from research and best practices for teaching and learning - both online and offline - within our traditional learning spaces.
Nelson holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Norfolk State University, an M.Ed. in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Certificate in Distance Education from the University of West Georgia.
In his off-time, Nelson enjoys playing the occasional round of golf, music, automotive mechanics and drawing.
