Sarah Helper is the Assistant Director of Learning Experience Design at CETLOE. She enjoys working with an amazing team to design, develop, and launch program, course, and service experiences. She has over 20 years of experience in higher education and 20 years of experience in the University System of Georgia.
Sarah earned a B.S. degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland, an M.S. in Information Science from Valdosta State University and an M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology from Georgia State University. Currently, Sarah is in candidacy at Georgia State for a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology. She will defend her dissertation in December 2022 and will graduate in May 2023. For her Ph.D. research, Sarah examines how diverse female-identifying Learning Sciences researchers develop strategies to counter existing power dynamics and incentives within virtual research teams. Outside of her Ph.D., Sarah is interested in pursuing research in the formal and professional development of instructional designers and related learning professionals.
Sarah has presented at many local, regional, and national conferences broadly in the field of education. In addition, she has published two pieces in the Journal of Access Services and in the anthology Posthumanism and Higher Education: Reimagining Pedagogy, Practice and Research.
Outside of work and school, Sarah is equally fast paced; she enjoys going on adventures, making art, reading comics, running, watching horror movies, eating at new places, and dancing at synth-heavy shows.
