What is VoiceThread?
VoiceThread is a multimedia tool that allows voice and text annotations to be added to multiple document types, such as documents, slideshow presentations, videos or photos. Using VoiceThread, students and instructors can comment and respond either verbally or using text.
VoiceThread is fully integrated with iCollege, allowing for easy addition to assignments and content. This add-in tool is capable of sending grades directly to the iCollege course gradebook.
How to Access VoiceThread
VoiceThread is available to the entire GSU community through an institutional license. You can access it through External Learning Tools in your iCollege course content menu.

- Create threaded recorded (video or audio) class discussions around images, videos, or other content.
- Have students submit a document or video demonstrating their work. Others (the instructor or peers) can verbally or textually critique
- A portfolio tool. Students can submit artifacts then annotate their work by including voice, video, and text explanations of what they have done
- Have a conversation around your narrated PowerPoint or multimedia presentation.
- Work through case studies and scenarios
- Have students critique each other’s work or evaluate historical art.
- Create a structured asynchronous debate.
- In language classes, ask students to create conversations in the target language around media.
- Have students generate digital stories or digital arguments.

No, it is not possible to change the activity type once the link has been created. You would need to delete the existing ink and then create a new link that points to the activity type you’d like to use for the assignment.

Yes, VoiceThread activities that are created as a part of one iCollege course will be copied when course content is copied into another course.
